## Section 1

Seoul Green Trust and KB Kookmin Bank revealed the cumulative project achievements over the past three years of the ‘Palace Forest Gardening’ campaign, which has been continuously promoted since 2023.
This campaign, hosted by Seoul Green Trust, sponsored by KB Kookmin Bank, and in cooperation with the Changgyeonggung Palace Management Office of the Royal Palaces and Tombs Center, was operated based on KB Kookmin Bank’s ‘KB Green Wave Fund’. The KB Green Wave Fund is a social contribution activity that utilizes ESG practice donations from executives and employees to support urban green space restoration and citizen-participatory [[KSTERM:환경]] programs.

The campaign focused on restoring the naturalness of the Yulgok-ro[[KSTERM:자연]]dae palace [[KSTERM:회복]] forest near Changgyeonggung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine, expanding citizen and community participation, and creating a sustainable urban forest. Over the past three years, a total of 300 million KRW in community contribution budget was invested, with 550 trees and approximately 9,900 wildflowers planted. The health of the forest was continuously managed through expert maintenance and tree health diagnostics.
Notably, in 2025, four new species suitable for Changgyeonggung Palace’s green spaces, such as trident maple, blue maple, spiraea, and oriental beautyberry, were planted, arranging a total of 14 species harmoniously in the palace forest over three years. As a result of removing three major invasive species, the number of invasive species decreased by approximately [[KSTERM:자연]]0% compared to the previous year, further enhancing its naturalness. The managed area is approximately 2,860㎡, with the planted area alone reaching about 1,372㎡.
Citizen participation also significantly increased. Over three years, a cumulative total of about 330 participants cultivated the palace forest through 12 volunteer activities, and in the third year, 2025, 127 people directly participated. Most participants expressed satisfaction with the activities and their intention to continue volunteering, and interest in urban forests and [[KSTERM:자연]] was found to have increased. Additionally, two ‘Green Excursion’ forest healing programs for the socially vulnerable were operated, allowing 29 children and seniors from the local community to have a special forest healing experience.

This project also focused on operating programs that practice carbon reduction. Through [[KSTERM:환경]] minimal production of promotional materials and re[[KSTERM:환경]], and the use of eco-friendly materials, environmental practices were concurrently carried out. With 1.6 million visitors to Changgyeonggung Palace last year, the project also contributed to increasing its social visibility and spreading participation.
Seoul Green Trust stated that thanks to the KB Green Wave Fund and citizens’ continuous [[KSTERM:자연]] participation over the past three years, the health and naturalness of the palace forest have been remarkably improved. Especially, efforts to maintain the ecological [[KSTERM:가치]] and harmony of the forest, from [[KSTERM:가치]] selection to management, led to successful outcomes. They announced plans to continue sustainable urban forest programs with citizens.
Seoul Green Trust and KB Kookmin Bank plan to continue efforts to spread the [[KSTERM:가치]] of green spaces in the city through the KB Green W[[KSTERM:가치]]e campaign, enhance the ecological [[KSTERM:환경]] of the city, and strive for the creation of a sustainable urban [[KSTERM:환경]].

The ‘Palace Forest Gardening’ campaign, created by the voluntary participation of Seoul Green Trust, KB Kookmin Bank, and numerous citizens, went beyond simple forest [[KSTERM:회복]] to leave a meaningful footprint by restoring the ecological health of [[KSTERM:가치]] and recalling the [[KSTERM:가치]] of the community. We hope that this green wave will continue to spread and make our city even richer.
