Dongwon F&B Launches Two Types of 'Dim Sum Wonton' to Enjoy with Broth

Dongwon F&B (CEO Kim Sung-yong) announced on the 22nd that it has launched two types of dim sum wontons to be enjoyed with broth. Unlike previously released steamed dim sum (such as shrimp hargow, xiaolongbao), the two new dim sum wontons from Dongwon F&B are designed to be eaten with broth (sauce). Consisting of ‘Dim Sum Cantonese Shrimp Wonton’ and ‘Dim Sum Sichuan Beef Wonton’, these wontons can be easily enjoyed by cooking them for 5 minutes with the enclosed broth (sauce).

* Wonton: A representative Chinese dish consisting of small dumplings made with thin wrappers, eaten with broth.

The ‘Dim Sum Cantonese Shrimp Wonton’ contains 17% shrimp, allowing consumers to enjoy wontons with a bouncy shrimp texture along with Cantonese-style chicken broth. The ‘Dim Sum Sichuan Beef Wonton’ combines beef and pork in an appropriate ratio, raising the meat content to 40%, and is a product where juicy wontons are tossed in a spicy Sichuan-style sauce.
Dongwon F&B plans to strengthen its competitiveness in the rapidly growing domestic dim sum market through these two new wonton products. The domestic frozen dim sum market, based on NielsenIQ Korea, is growing rapidly from KRW 17.8 billion in 2023 to an estimated KRW 26.6 billion in 2025. Dongwon F&B’s strategy is to capture consumers’ palates with differentiated new products.

Dongwon F&B established itself as a leader in the dim sum market by being the first in the industry to introduce dim sum products in 2020. Dongwon F&B’s dim sum, which holds the number one market share in the dim sum category according to Market Link (October 2022 – September 2024), is characterized by chewy dumpling wrappers made from starch dough kneaded with boiling water over 100 degrees Celsius, and rich fillings. As of the end of 2025, the cumulative sales of its four dim sum types are expected to reach approximately 300 million pieces (based on individual units).
Dongwon F&B stated that these two wonton products were planned to expand frozen dim sum, which has primarily been positioned as a snack, into a convenient meal replacement. They also announced that they would continue to introduce various dim sum products that offer authentic flavors through continuous research and development.
Dim Sum Cantonese Shrimp Wonton (294g) and Sichuan Beef Wonton (336g) are packaged for two servings, priced at KRW 12,480 each. They are available at major hypermarkets nationwide and leading online malls.

The launch of these two ‘Dim Sum Wonton’ types by Dongwon F&B provides an opportunity to enjoy dim sum in a more diverse way, aligning with the trends of the convenience food market. We look forward to seeing what innovative dim sum products Dongwon F&B, which has made new attempts to cater to the tastes of Koreans who prefer broth dishes, will lead the market with in the future.
