Wonju Hanji Culture Festival Shines with the 'Love for Hanji' from 5 Public Institutions… 5 Consecutive Years of Sponsorship and Volunteer Activities<\/div>\n

The Korea Veterans Health Service Agency (Chairman Yoon Jong-jin, hereinafter referred to as KVA Medical Service) announced that on Tuesday, the 28th, at Wonju Hanji Theme Park, along with four other public institutions from Wonju Innovation City, it delivered sponsorship funds to the Hanji Culture Festival Committee and engaged in volunteer work to install Hanji lanterns (\u71c8) for the preservation of traditional culture and mutual growth.<\/p>\n

Employees from five public institutions in Wonju Innovation City participated in this event, including the KVA Medical Service, which organized the sponsorship and volunteer activities, as well as the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service, Korea Tourism Organization, Korea Mine Rehabilitation and Mineral Resources Corporation, and the Road Traffic Authority.<\/p>\n

On this day, the five public institutions, including the KVA Medical Service, delivered 7 million won in sponsorship funds, jointly prepared for the successful opening of the ’28th Wonju Hanji Culture Festival’ on Friday, May 1st, to the Hanji Culture Festival Committee. Subsequently, participating employees directly installed Hanji lanterns (\u71c8) to be used for the ‘Stairway of Paper and Light,’ a main attraction within the festival venue, thereby assisting in the preparation of the event.<\/p>\n

Since signing the ‘Working Agreement for the Revitalization of Wonju Traditional Hanji’ in 2021, the KVA Medical Service has collaborated annually with public institutions in Wonju Innovation City for five years, continuing its sponsorship and volunteer activities to preserve valuable cultural heritage and foster mutual growth with the local community.<\/p>\n

Yoon Jong-jin, Chairman of the KVA Medical Service, stated, ‘This year is significant as traditional Korean Hanji is awaiting review for inscription on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list. We hope this activity will contribute, even in a small way, to preserving and promoting our unique cultural heritage. Moving forward, the KVA Medical Service will continue to communicate closely with the local community and lead the way in fulfilling its social responsibilities as a public institution.’<\/p>\n

The cooperation of the five public institutions in Wonju Innovation City will serve as a crucial stepping stone not only for the successful hosting of the ‘Wonju Hanji Culture Festival’ but also for re-evaluating the value of traditional Korean Hanji and promoting it to the world.
