Wizoncen Unveils 2026 RBO Season Lineup… 6 Ballets and Operas to Screen at Megabox

Wizoncen, a specialized distributor of performance content, has unveiled the 2026 season screening lineup for the Royal Ballet & Opera (RBO) of the UK. Through Megabox’s ‘Classic Society,’ Wizoncen will present high-quality performing arts to domestic audiences. Having continuously screened RBO productions in Korea since 2022, Wizoncen plans to feature a total of six masterpieces this year, encompassing classic ballet and opera.

The world-class RBO season arrives with Megabox.

Since 2022, Wizoncen has consistently led the domestic screenings of RBO, delivering the essence of ballet and opera to audiences through Megabox’s ‘Classic Society’ program. Wizoncen’s efforts to lead the domestic classical performance content market by presenting carefully selected repertoires each season are expected to shine again in the 2026 season.

This season also offers a special opportunity to experience world-class performances on the big screen, contributing to increased accessibility for classical performances. The RBO season, allowing audiences to vividly enjoy the Royal Opera House stage as if it were their home theater, will be an attractive option not only for performing arts enthusiasts but also for newcomers.

From classics to contemporary: a diverse lineup of six masterpieces.

The 2026 season kicks off with a spectacular opening featuring ‘La Fille mal gardée,’ one of the Royal Ballet’s signature repertoires. Choreographed by Frederick Ashton, this work is praised as a masterpiece that most intuitively conveys the joy of classical ballet, weaving a cheerful plot with warm emotions to light-heartedly tell a story of love and choice.

Following this, audiences can look forward to ‘Cinderella,’ a ballet showcasing fairytale imagination, and ‘Siegfried,’ an opera from Richard Wagner’s magnum opus ‘The Ring of the Nibelung.’ The ballet ‘The Nutcracker,’ a quintessential year-end repertoire, will enhance the festive atmosphere with its fantastical stage. ‘Woolf Works,’ a modern ballet reinterpretation of Virginia Woolf’s literary world, promises a new artistic experience.

The final production to grace the season is ‘Giselle,’ often called the epitome of Romantic ballet. This diverse lineup of six works, spanning traditional classical ballet, opera, and innovative contemporary ballet, will provide a valuable opportunity to experience RBO’s extensive artistic spectrum in a multifaceted way within a single season.

The vivid immersion of ‘Event Cinema,’ optimized for theater screenings.

Wizoncen produces and distributes live performance recordings in an ‘Event Cinema’ format, optimized for theater screenings, offering audiences a differentiated experience. Multi-camera filming techniques and delicate close-up direction vividly convey the dancers’ facial expressions, intricate movements, and even the texture of their costumes, details often missed on a wide stage.

Furthermore, through continuous collaboration with global distributor Trafalgar Releasing, RBO’s rich content is stably presented in Korea. Thanks to these technological efforts and distribution capabilities, audiences can experience a different kind of immersion than what they would feel in a live performance, allowing them to delve deeper into the essence of performing arts.

Opening the 2026 season, ‘La Fille mal gardée’ will be screened starting April 29 (Wed), followed by May 3 (Sun), May 6 (Wed), and May 10 (Sun) at Megabox COEX, Bundang, The Boutique Mokdong Hyundai, and Central branches. Other productions will be screened sequentially, and detailed schedules can be checked through Megabox ‘Classic Society’.

Wizoncen stated that as RBO season screenings have consistently received love each year and are a flagship program, this year’s carefully selected lineup will make the charm of performing arts even more accessible. Through world-class ballet and opera presented in theaters, audiences are expected to gain artistic inspiration and experience profound emotions in their daily lives.
